Feast of the Holy Family
The 26th December this year was celebrated as the Feast of the Holy Family, but traditionally the 26th December is the Feast of St Stephen, the first martyr, one of the first deacons of the Church and the Patron of Altar Servers.
At the 11.30am Mass today four of our altar servers were enrolled into the Guild of St Stephen having served in the parish for over a year. During the Mass they made their promises and were enrolled by Fr Peter, receiving their bronze medals.
The other servers than renewed their commitment to serve with reverence and understanding for the next year.
Three of the Servers were presented with Certificates of Merit to recognise their dedication and commitment as servers in the parish for over five years.
At this Mass today we also welcomed a new Altar Server who joined the group and served for the very first time.
We give thanks to God for our young people who faithfully dedicate themselves to this ministry each weekend. We look forward to the day when we can celebrate again with our Servers as they return to the Church in greater numbers.
We pray for them and for their ministry to our parish
St Stephen, Pray for them
