Original wooden sash windows
Hey everyone, I need some advice! I have an old Victorian house with original wooden sash windows. They look beautiful, but over the years, they’ve become really drafty and some of them barely open anymore. I’m torn between fully replacing them with modern alternatives or restoring them. I’d love to keep the original charm, but I also don’t want my energy bills to skyrocket. Has anyone here gone through a similar process? What did you decide to do?

People often assume that old wooden windows are beyond saving, but in most cases, they just need some expert restoration. I restored mine a couple of years ago, and the difference was huge—no more drafts, and they slide open so smoothly now.
